Biography
Hello my name is Manuel Dimas Rodriguez from San Antonio, TX. I have been playing trumpet since 1971 and a little later the flugelhorn (after seeing Chuck Mangione). I play a Marcinkiewicz trumpet made by Joseph Marcinkiewicz and it's a "Vermeer" 3 - "Bright can be overwhelming at times. It would be nice to have a horn that can be bright and caress you as well. The Vermeer Model Three has all these things and a bright and focused round sound. What separates this horn from others is its responsiveness and incredible presence. This instrument is ideal for most situations and preferred by players that like to be on top of the section.
I have worked/performed with Phil Driscoll, Darlene Zschech, Vivien Hibbert, Catherine Coluccio, Rudy Rodriguez, Marcos Witt, Sunny Ozuna, Strong Tower, AMISTAD, Alice Gomez, Gina Hayes, MichauX and many others as a SECTION - LEAD - SOLO trumpet player. I also have performed in the San Antonio College Jazz Band, SAC Latin Jazz Band, Eagle's Nest Christian Fellowship (now Summit Christian Center), and My Friends House Christian Fellowship praise & worship teams. I have made appearances at numerous festivals/events around the country with the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton, CA (when I was in the USMC 1978-1984).
Currently, I teach at Alamo Music Center & Master Trumpet Classes at Local Schools in San Antonio, TX. "SOLID FRONT" is the name of my band (a gospel jazz sound). I also recorded lead trumpet & flugelhorn (some solos, ck it out) on "FAITH257" new CD; www.myspace.com/faith257
